Pleased to Meet You

At Lemberg Law, we’re proud of our reputation for doggedly representing consumers in unfair debt collection cases. For three years running, the debt collection industry has targeted our managing partner, Sergei Lemberg, as the country’s “most active” consumer attorney.

Our philosophy revolves around helping people take back their power. Many consumer laws, like the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), were designed to empower consumers (and, by extension, consumer attorneys) to be “private attorneys general” and enforce public policy. The government doesn’t have the resources to police all debt collection agencies and creditors, so it’s up to us. In fact, an appellate judge presiding over one of our cases wrote, “The FDCPA is a consumer protection statute and was intended to permit, even encourage, attorneys like Lemberg to act as private attorney generals to pursue FDCPA claims.” We feel privileged to be entrusted with that role.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is the bright line that prevents reasonable debt collector behavior from crossing over into harassment, embarrassment, and threats. While some debt collectors toe the line, others plow right through it.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) is designed to preserve your peace of mind by making it illegal to robocall your cell phone. Those clicks or stretches of silence you hear before being connected to a debt collector are clues that you’ve received a robocall.

Making a difference matters to us. While our main office is in Connecticut, we have a national legal team that works hard to achieve positive outcomes for clients all around the country. Our clients are family-oriented, hard-working folks who know that they can’t fight debt collection agencies and creditors on their own.

Our legal team’s track record speaks for itself. We’ve helped more than 15,000 consumers recover more than $35 million.
